As a senior he led the Eskimos to a sectional championship defeating defending state champion Jasper on the way. They also won the regional and the first round of the semi-state before losing to eventual state champion New Albany in the final game of the Bloomington Semi-State.
It was the first of many games he would play at the Indiana University Field House.
