Kenneth “Tot” Nelson, 97,passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He was a graduate of Winslow High School Class of 1939.
He was born in Ayrshire on April 29, 1920, to the late Bert and Sarah (Lee) Nelson. He had served in the United States Army Air Corps as a pilot in World War II. Following his service, he went into education and taught around the Evansville area.
He was a teacher and successful Athletic Hall of Fame basketball coach. He retired from Castle H.S. in 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Billie Nelson, of Chandler; daughter, Jan (Royce) Taylor, of Pine Bluff, Ark.; grandchildren, Tom (Sarah) Westfall, of Clinton, Ark.; Patrick (Jacquie) Westfall, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Luke and Owen Westfall; sister, Bertha Lee Mosley, of Decatur, Ill.; and countless extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen (Winkler) Nelson; and brothers, Lowell and Chub Nelson.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Living Word Christian Church at 3888 IN-261, Newburgh. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
