Mary Martha Curtis – WHS Class 1956 – July 26, 2017
Mary Martha Curtis, 79, of Winslow, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
She was born March 4, 1938, in Princeton, to Rev. Herschel and Jewel Pirkle Long. She married Kenneth L. Curtis June 11, 1955, in Pike County. He preceded her in death July 2, 2017 . Mary Martha graduated from Winslow High School in 1956. She attended Grace General Baptist Church and was a member of the Winslow Lions Club, Kiwanis Club. She was a model care giver having taken care of her son, Todd, who preceded her in death July 25, 2011.
She is survived by her daughters, Terenda (Dale) Waynt, of Bellevillle, Ill., Trea McCandless, of Petersburg; granddaughters, Erin (Josh) Laurion, of Fairview Ht. Ill. , Chas (Paul) Brewster, of Petersburg; great-granddaughter, Alice Jewel Laurion, of Fairview Ht. Ill.; great-grandsons, Seth (Kerstain) Phillips, of Oakland City, Clay Phillips, of Washington, Quentin Phillips, of Petersburg; great-great-granddaughters, Vayda Myers and Kylie Phillips, of Oakland City; great-great-grandson, Jackson Phillips, of Oakland City. She was also preceded in death by son-in-law, Lawrence “Buster” McCandless; and great-great-granddaughter, Abbey Phillips.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. at the Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow. Visitation will be Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Lions Club service at 2 p.m. All times are Pike County times. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Curtis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
