Lowell Kent Soderling – Class 1957 – March 25, 2016
Lowell Kent Soderling 76, of Winslow, passed away March 25, 2016, at the Golden Living Center in Petersburg. He was born July 7, 1939, in Princeton Ind., to Wilson and Margaret (Corn) Soderling.
He graduated from Winslow High School and Oakland City College. He married Marjorie Joan Overton June 20, 1959, in Morganfield Ky.
Kent was known for his bass voice and sang with several southern gospel quartets over the years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Petersburg. He served on the boards of the Pike County Library, Pike Co. CEDA, Lighthouse Recovery Center, and Winslow Learning Center. Kent opened and maintained the Winslow Learning Center.
He was a retired truck driver and transportation consultant.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Winslow; daughters, Beth Soderling, of Winslow, and Tracy Soderling, of Evansville; son, Scott (Amber) Soderling, of Vincennes; three grandsons, Shaun (Kaycie) Soderling, Jordan Soderling and Jonathan Soderling; great-granddaughter, Quinn Soderling.
A Memorial service will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Curtis Funeral Home in Winslow. Burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Campbelltown at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lighthouse Recovery Center or to the Ronald McDonald House.
