Gola P. McCord – Class of 1948 – November 14, 2014
Gola P. McCord, 87, of Washington, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at IU Health, Bloomington.
Born May 19, 1927, in Littles, Ind., he was the son of Fred Elsworth and Anna Elizabeth (Barrett) McCord.
A Winslow High School graduate, Class of 1948, he served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had worked at McCord’s, Whirlpool, Montgomery Wards and Sears.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda McCord Limbach (Lester) of Tampa, Florida, and Beth McCord Crain of Bloomington; grandsons, Trae Limbach (Dani) of Tampa, Brandan Crain (Isabelle Bahr) of Bloomington, Zach Crain (Garry Long) of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Aaron Kaleb Crain of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, David Limbach, Tyler Limbach, Austin Crain and Gunner Bahr-Crain; and a sister, Clova Dobbyn of Washington.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elijah McCord, Rev. William McCord, Elsworth McCord, Harold McCord, Virgil McCord, Charles McCord and Lewis McCord; and a sister, Eva McCord.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Rex Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Garden.
Visitation is from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
