1956 WHS BB Queen
Between halves of the Winslow-Decker game, Dec 16, 1955, Betty Nelson was crowned Basketball Queen of WHS for 1956. The Queen, a senior, was crowned by Larry Gillespie, captain of the Eskimos. Formally attired queen attendants and their escorts included the following: Linda Parker, Marlene Corn, Diana Doris, Kay Arnold, Carol Brittian, Myra Fettinger, Donna Vaughn, Sharon Tucker, Martha DeJarnett, Dixie Corn, Nola Rothrock, Martha Deen, Marilyn Beadles, Joan Brewster, Judy Young, Rosemary Camfield, Jerry Philllips, Eugene Hardin, Duane Jones, Neal Brown, Jerry Lee, Noel Thompson, Robert Wallace, Gene Dupont, Richard Harper, Ronald Woolsey, Jerry Simpson, Paul Inman, Roger Erwin, Vernie Stephens, John Esmeier, and John Deen. Color bearers from the seventh and eight grades were Malinda Thompson, Billy Smith, Janice Lee, Sherry McClure, Marilyn Jones, Jerry Hanks, Stevie Kinder, Alan Bechtel, Alan Nelson, Adra Woods, Eleanor Hurst, Tanya Henager, Steve Nichols, C.M. Brown, and Donald Jones. First graders Kay Auten and Johnny Eads carried the crown and basketball.
