1950 WHS Rose, Rich & Rose
Pictured above L to R: Wilma Rose McInturf, Richard Farley, and Rose Marion Norrick Tooley. The photo was taken in front of the Winslow Phillips 66 gasoline station which was just north of the Patoka river on Hwy 61 (south main street), Winslow, Indiana. The time period is around 1948 or late 1947 evidenced by the license plate on the auto. It probably was taken before the state upgraded hwy 61 thru Winslow.
To the left would have been the old feed store and in the background (white building) was the Ford garage. By the way the road turn left, I would assume the “new bridge” was in place. (Which has been replaced again). If you turned left past the feed store, you could go down to the baseball field (which usually flooded every spring). Haven’t seen any pictures of the old baseball field. But at one time, it had poured concrete bleachers.
