Rev. Frank H. “Jocko” McCandless, 84, of Winslow, IN entered rest on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 5:36 p.m. at Memorial Hospital in Jasper, IN.
He was born September 19, 1926 in Pike County to Hobart and Myrtle (Evans) McCandless. He attended Winslow High School in the Class of 1945.
Frank was a retired Coal Miner from Amax Coal Mine at Keensburg, IL and a member of UMWA and retired Church of God minister and long time member of Muren Church of God and was pastor from 1958 – 1991.
Also was preceded in death by parent’s, son Randall Kent McCandless in 1977 an wife, Maxine Doris McCandless on December 16, 2010, brothers, Gerald, Kenny, Jack and Elwood McCandless and sisters Louise Pirkle and Ann Wells.
Surviving family; daughter, Vonda Kay McCandless of Winslow, IN; sons, Bart (Brenda F.) McCandless of Haubstadt, IN, Brad (Brenda L.) McCandless of Princeton, IN, Mark (Angie) McCandless of Petersburg, IN; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Sue (Don) Russell and Sandy (Bill) Rowe, both of Winslow, IN and Sherry (Danny) Schmitt of Velpen, IN.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. EST Monday at Muren Church of God with burial in Williams Cemetery, near Oakalnd City, IN. Rev. Dusty McCandless and Rev. Clint Woolsey officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-6:00 p.m. EST Sunday, Muren Church of God and from 10:00 a.m. until services on Monday. Lamb Basham memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be given to Muren Church of God in lieu of flowers.
