The late Dick Farley today became the 25th member. Farley, who learned his basketball while bouncing off pot-bellied stoves in a rickety, old gym at Winslow, IN., went on to become the relentless driver of Indiana University’s 1953 NCAA title team.
|While guiding Indiana through its greatest basketball era, Farley earned the respect of all. His coach, the venerable Branch McCracken, called him “the most under-rated player of all time”…and his better-known teammates, Don Schlundt and Bob Leonard, could do no better than echo their coach’s sentiments. Farley is being enshrined along with Ray Blades, Bob Hamilton, Bob Coleman, Gil Hodges, Billy Hillenbrand, Dike Eddleman, Charles Hornbostel, Happy Chandler, Edd Roush, Gus Doerner, Ed Diddle, Pete Fox, Joe Fulks, Arad McCutchin, Punch Knoll, Don M. Hayes, Louise Owens, Abe Martin, Don Ping, Cliff Hagan, Frank Ramsey, Jim Smallines, Dolph Stanley, Cabby O’Neill and Carlyle Towry.|
